Enter on the second level directly in to the large wraparound living room/dining area with a wall of windows wrapping from the bedroom, around the corner to the left, to the dining area with views from South Ridge around to Mountain Center and on to Hemet and San Jacinto valley beyond Inspiration Point. The fully outfitted kitchen is immediately to the right with its own view beyond Inspiration Point. Enter the spacious bedroom from the far end of the living room with a full bathroom (separate tub and shower) and laundry facilities. Both the bathroom and north side of the bedroom have views to Marion Ridge and the south side of the bedroom offers floor-to-ceiling windows that continue in to the living areas and offer views of Mountain Center beyond oaks, pines, Manzanita and granite boulders. The downstairs apartment is occupied full-time by a mature single person on the Idyllwild Arts Academy faculty, teaching art history, and who is an artist in his own right.
Garners’ Xanadu was owned by Ray & Virginia Garner, stalwart supporters of the Idyllwild community and the arts, and is now owned by their heirs. The Garners were well-traveled and there are many artifacts decorating the home which are part of the family’s personal memorabilia and should be admired but not handled. The architectural style is modern and unique but leans toward mid-Century with high ceiling beams radiating out from the entry and fireplace to a wall of windows.
Hikers will love this location because of hiking trails that drop off of Double View and traverse down toward Strawberry Creek below the Arts Academy. Star gazers will love the location because of the ridgetop location and “big sky”. Everyone will love Garners’ Xanadu because of the views.
