As of today, Sunday, 7/21/13, the Mountain Fire is 49% contained. Yesterday’s moisture and last nights’ rain has helped dampen the fire. Later today the evacuation will be lifted for Idyllwild and Fern Valley residents. But only those with proof of residency or employment will be allowed in to Idyllwild. 100% containment is expected later in the week.
Idyllwild looks none the worse for wear. Other than the contingent of fire personnel and equipment, I’m told, Idyllwild doesn’t look and different than prior to last week’s evacuation.
If you are looking for lodging, please call. Our calendar is 100% accurate for dates beyond this Friday, 7/26. This week we are playing host to firefighters in most of our inn rooms and we still don’t know when non-residents will be allowed up – within a few days I expect.
If you are already booked for 7/26 or after please plan on coming up. Idyllwild is as beautiful as ever and there will be a palpable of feeling of “shared experience” among the residents and businesses – who need your support right now.
