Celebrate the holidays in Idyllwild

Included in the Winterfest is an Inns of Idyllwild Holiday Open House & Tour the evening of December 14th.  Stop by Quiet Creek Inn to say hi and enjoy some “holiday cheer”.

Also, the Associates of Idyllwild Arts Foundation are staffing the gift wrapping store as a fundrasier the weekend of December 11 & 12.  If you have gifts that need wrapping stop by Village Lane or if you want to volunteer to wrap send me an email or Facebook message.

All clear

There is a very slight chance of snow on Monday and Tuesday. Idyllwild and Pine cove received 1 to 4 inches of snow. Roads are clear! The outlook for Thanksgiving looks good – clear and chilly!

Don’t miss these great events happening this holiday weekend:

Saturday – 50th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Friday & Saturdya: 44th Annual Harvest Festival

NOW it’s snowing

There will likely be some snow accumulation today.  What’s falling now is wet and a little more sleet like but could easily turn to puffy white flakes subject to temperature and other conditions.  The white stuff is starting to stick on the ground.  The National Weather Service is forecasting 2-4″ today and another 1-2″ tonight but they also say the high will be 33 and it’s 37 at 9:30 am (40 at 7:00 am).

Based on what’s falling now the roads should be good, slushy but OK.

No snow at Quiet Creek Inn

The snow that was forecast for last night and this morning didn’t happen… at least not in our part of Idyllwild where the inn is located.  It’s very possible that there is snow at higher elevations but Lily Rock is shrouded in fog and we can’t see it from our kitchen window to report on whether there is snow higher up than where we are.  What we can see it gorgeous fall color.  We are at the point of the season of rich golds and russets.  It’s beautiful! Perfect for Thanksgiving week.

It will be cold this week but the roads will be clear.

Chance of snow this weekend

Fall color is at it’s peek

The drive up Scenic Highway 243 from the north (Banning side) is spectacular right now.  If you come up to Idyllwild using a different route it’s worth a drive north to Lake Fulmor, or beyond, to experience the dazzling fall color flanking both sides of the highway.  We certainly have plenty of splashes of it at the inn and around Idyllwild but the side trip excursion is worth it.

I also just posted some foggy fall photos to the Photo Gallery that I took several weeks ago.  The photo above is from this folder. These are moody images reminiscent of romance novels and movie scenes.  The photos were taken on Tollgate Road halfway between Quiet Creek Inn and Idyllwild Arts.
