Quiet Creek Inn, Idyllwild, 4/21/10, 9:30: The snow alternated with sleet often and on all day.  At the inn, we’ve accumulated a little less than two inches of the white stuff.  There will certainly be more higher up the valley.  I’m guessing there will be enough snow left this weekend to play in under pleasant sunny skies.

Snow on daffodils is one thing but snow on our blooming tulips is a bit more unusual and they aren’t designed to hold the weight – the daffodils face out, looking over the snow and they are used to it in early Spring, but the tulips face up like a bowl catching the heavy snow and they are not used to it.  We’ll have many broken tulips tomorrow. We’re also a little worried for our fruit trees and the new growth on the roses.  It’s unusually cold for this time of year.
