Spectacular Architectural Masterpiece now available as a vacation rental

3 Bears on Upper Pine Crest has joined Quiet Creek’s stable of superior vacation rentals.  The location overlooks Marion Creek and offers phenomenal views of Lily Rock and the ridgeline.  The house is designed for a couple but there is a sofa bed available as well as a detached guest apartment (Bear’s Outlook).  The architectural design and decor are stunning.  See more photos in our Photo Gallery. Updated photos will be taken and uploaded this week.  The weekend rate is $225/night for two guests and each additional guest is $15/night.  Book online through our Reservation Calendar or by giving us a call at 800-450-6110.

About a foot of snow in the village

Quiet Creek Inn, Idyllwild, 4/21/10, 6 pm: snow fell off and on all day yesterday and on and off all day today.  We have about 8″ at the inn and closer to a foot in the village and higher – enough to last beyond this weekend.

A little less than 2″ of snow Wednesday night

Quiet Creek Inn, Idyllwild, 4/21/10, 9:30: The snow alternated with sleet often and on all day.  At the inn, we’ve accumulated a little less than two inches of the white stuff.  There will certainly be more higher up the valley.  I’m guessing there will be enough snow left this weekend to play in under pleasant sunny skies.

Snow on daffodils is one thing but snow on our blooming tulips is a bit more unusual and they aren’t designed to hold the weight – the daffodils face out, looking over the snow and they are used to it in early Spring, but the tulips face up like a bowl catching the heavy snow and they are not used to it.  We’ll have many broken tulips tomorrow. We’re also a little worried for our fruit trees and the new growth on the roses.  It’s unusually cold for this time of year.

Light snow

Quiet Creek Inn, Idyllwild, 9:00 am: It’s snowing lightly but not sticking yet.  The forecast is for more snow at decreasing elevations as the day progresses.

Lily Rock Lodge new addition to Quiet Creek Vacation Rentals

Quiet Creek Inn & Vacation Rentals is please to announce the addition of Lily Rock Lodge to its available vacation rental cabins.  Lily Rock Lodge is vintage Idyllwild located on South Circle near Scenic (a moderate walk to the village area) and offers two bedrooms and 1.5 baths on a single level.  The weekend rate for two guests is $150/night plus $15 for each additional guest.  Click on Photo Gallery to see more photos.

Stergulz accepted in to the 2010 Salon International Art Show

Richard Stergulz, local award winning artist and instructor, was accepted in to the 2010 Salon International Art Show for the 2nd straight year.  The competition, sponsored by the Green House Gallery in San Antonio and the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art, accepted only 392 out of the over 1300 entries that were sent in.  Stergulz’s piece, “If You Can’t Stand the Heat.”, along with the rest of the entries will be judged by renowned portrait artist Everett Raymond Kinstler.  The show opens at the Greenhouse Gallery  in San Antonio on April 10th and will hang there until April 30th.

His entry last year, “Windows to the Soul”, won an honorable mention from the judge, Daniel Greene, and  was in the Jury’s list of the top 50 in the show.

Richard is an award winning artist whose main subject matter is the figure. Richard studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has been drawing since he was 8 years old.  He has done demonstrations for most of the art associations in San Diego and Riverside counties and teaches in Fallbrook two days a week and in Temecula on Thursday mornings.  His works have won many awards ranging from Best of Show to People’s Choice.

Stergulz is a featured artist in the Quiet Creek Living Room Gallery.

Spring weather; no snow

The big storm that was supposed to snow on us yesterday and today fizzled out.  It was cold last night but no precipitation.  We’re still experiencing Spring like weather.
