Richard Stergulz, local award winning artist and instructor, was accepted in to the 2010 Salon International Art Show for the 2nd straight year. The competition, sponsored by the Green House Gallery in San Antonio and the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art, accepted only 392 out of the over 1300 entries that were sent in. Stergulz’s piece, “If You Can’t Stand the Heat.”, along with the rest of the entries will be judged by renowned portrait artist Everett Raymond Kinstler. The show opens at the Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio on April 10th and will hang there until April 30th.
His entry last year, “Windows to the Soul”, won an honorable mention from the judge, Daniel Greene, and was in the Jury’s list of the top 50 in the show.
Richard is an award winning artist whose main subject matter is the figure. Richard studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has been drawing since he was 8 years old. He has done demonstrations for most of the art associations in San Diego and Riverside counties and teaches in Fallbrook two days a week and in Temecula on Thursday mornings. His works have won many awards ranging from Best of Show to People’s Choice.
