Again we are experiencing gorgeous blue skies but in an hour or so (around 10 am) the rain returns.
From our kitchen window I can see a blanket of snow on the upper ridges and on Lily Rock and we have a dusting along the shaded edges of our property so I’m guessing Pine Cove and Fern Valley have some snow on the ground but probably less than two inches according to the James Reserve cam-bot that can be moved to look at a snow ruler (quite cool if you haven’t check it out – the link is on our Weather/Road Conditions page – once there click on the camera control icon and then choose snow measurement from the drop down list). The James Reserve is located on the north side of Pine Cove and is comparable in elevation to Idyllwild.
Heavy rain is forecast for today and snow is forecast for Thursday, Friday and Saturday – “heavy” snow on Thursday. Sunday is forecast to be partly sunny. The National Weather Service link on our Weather/Road Conditions page is proving to be the most accurate for this storm system.
If your schedule is flexible, Sunday would be the day to come up and spend a few days in the snow (one-night minimum at the inn and two-night minimum in the vacation rental cabins) but keep an eye on the forecast.
