Months of dry weather was broken early this morning by rain. It's still raining steadily and there is water in the creek again. It might not last but there's water now. If the temperature drops as much as 15 degrees today or tonight and it's still raining this could be our first snow fall of the year. Either way it's all good.

"Quiet Creek Inn" ...the place is well-named: a place where you can be quiet, read, write, enjoy the forest. A good place for a break, and we shall return!

We've had a cancellation and Bear's Den is now available - see the photos in the Photo Gallery. Bear's Den can accommodate up to 6 guests in two bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a four-night minimum and no check-ins on Thanksgiving, when we'll be closed for the holiday. Four-nights can be booked online but you'll have to call us for three-nights.

We had a cancellation of a charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin, which is now available for Thanksgiving (three night min but no check-ins on Thanksgiving Day). It's called Scenic Retreat and can be viewed in the photo gallery of our web site. The rate for two guests is $198/night and each additional guest (up to 4 total guests) is $15/night.

We are also still expecting a new listing of a log cabin style home in Big Cedar Glen that can sleep up to 8 and will be $264/night for two guests; each additional guest is $15/night. The same booking policies above apply. We taking contact information for interested parties and will confirm on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are SOLD OUT for Thanksgiving but are getting a new listing just in time for a Thanksgiving booking. It's a beautiful and large log cabin in Big Cedar Glen with views through trees to the surrounding ridges. It will sleep eight (3 bedrooms & 2.5 baths) and will be priced at $264/night, double occupancy (each additional guest beyond two is $15/night) for Thanksgiving with a three night minimum but no check-ins on Thanksgiving Day. Please call to book as this might not get into our web site for a few days.

"The San Bernardino National Forest will re-open Thursday following a closure during the Snta Ana winds that fueled devastating wildfires across Southern California," according to today's Town Crier.

A conversation I had with a ranger at the State Park indicates that the San Jacinto State Park will follow the lead of the National Forest.

Daytime temps have been running in the low 70s but are projected to get cooler through the weekend. Night night temps have been running in the low 40s but will dip back in to the mid- to high-30s this weekend. We're back to more typical fall weather - yippee!

We've got gorgeous blue skies and clear air but as a preventative measure the National Forest and State Park are closed to hiking and camping. The County Park, Nature Center and adjacent trails are still open and accessible via the Nature Center off of Highway 243 (or park near the Deer Springs Trailhead and cross the highway and access one of the trails right off of the highway) or access Hillside and Summit trails at the end of Delano Drive (behind Quiet Creek Inn).

We've had a last minute cancellation for tonight (Friday, 11/2/07): a deluxe one-bedroom suite at $150 - it might be available tomorrow night as well. Call to book as our online booking engine won't allow a one-night booking on a weekend: 800-450-6110.
